  • I didn't realise I'd ordered a Special Edition.

    http://www.witcombcycles.co.uk/bicycles/products/witcomb/englandtrack.htm

No wonder he was so keen to give me my money back. It's new price tag is three times what I paid for it.

  • oh dear...

  • oooopppps!

  • What warrants such a hefty price tag for any bike? Though Bob Jacksons, Witcombs and Mercians are beautiful bikes why are they so much more expensive then say my Lotus or someones Bianchi?

  • well, a Witcomb is now 3 times the price of a BJ, isn't it? since their little 'price re-structuring' a couple of months back

  • Given that the general consensus on their recent price increases is that they're reflecting extra marketing/design costs, that's quite an ugly website.

  • yep, hard to see where the money goes.

  • Hmmm....

    I "designed" my frame.

So it may well be my Intellectual Property...

  • insist that it is destroyed and that they send you photos of this happening.

  • Tony 'Kowalski' Dafoney

  • what a piss take.

you designed the frame? the geometry or the colour scheme?

then they put it up as an "England Track" (is there a bulldog logo ready to go on?)

    it's secondhand too.

    fuck. £1500

    shit shit shit

  • wayne_f14 Tony 'Kowalski' Dafoney

    That's slander.

    RPM what a piss take.

I discussed the frame spec with Barrie, but the the colour scheme is all mine.

Not that it hasn't been done before, but thats Barrie and DaFonie all over.

    England Track?

    Witcomb Wrongster.

  • say you've changed your mind and you want it after all.

    for the original price.

  • man, i knew i should've bought it off you, built it up and fleeced some hipster!! :(

  • I'm glad that they say "Complete price £2200 inc. frame and forks" - for a moment I thought it was £2200 for the components alone and it seemed a bit expensive. Add in the frame and forks and it looks like a good deal.

  • RPM say you've changed your mind and you want it after all.

    for the original price.

Would that make a difference to you? If you'd taken it back for the original price, is it any better a bike when they've slapped a few more 0's on the end?

  • Resale value-wise.. yes.

  • for that reason only, or maybe just to hang on the wall so someone else isn't charged x3 times for it when it's already been in and out of the shop and had parts fitted to it.

    £700!?

  • check out the description of this poor bike

    WTF?

  • [cite]foney[/cite]Frame as above, with handmade wheels, Ambrosio rims, imported Phil hubs, plain lugs, Sygnia crankset and specialized track brakes.

i swear that's a sugino 75 and right, so specialized has gone ahead to jeopardise everyone's health and safety on the velodrome...

  • That's soo dodgy..

  • Track brakes?!

    Shirley, that's an oxymoron.

  • nope, such is the hectic schedule of pro track racers these days that they just don't have time for another lap after the finish. With these new "Track Brakes" they can be on the team bus, heading for the next race before the back markers have even crossed the line.

don't be afraid of progress, Stompy. it's the future happening right now

  • undrilled forks and fag paper clearance is so 2007
