Clean it.
Seriously.
Izumi's are silent when maintained well, and sound like tractors when they're dirty. It may look clean, but I bet it isn't.
Give it a good clean, re-lube and put back on. And clean your cog and chainring whilst you're at it.

Cheers David, but the transmission is all new.
So dirty it isn't.

It's not too tight then is it?
My Izumi sounds terrible when either dirty or too tight. The rest of the time... heavenly.

I'd say tension is fine.
Looks like I may have been charged Super Toughness money for a cheep-cheep chain.
I've had a butcher's. It's stamped 5L, and is NJS certified.
Anyone know what it is?

If it's brand new it might take a few kays before bedding in.. all the edges on the cogs are FRESH FRESH you see?
The noise from the GT driveline has gone now and I've done nothing to it. I'd say ride it for 100k and see if it's still noisy.

if this is an after work thing I'm in, there have been far too few gatherings of the west london fgss splinter group recently, unless of course you've been meeting up secretly in the depths of west london, planning on fixed gear domination and the suchlike..
Wasn't my first choice, but it was all Barrie and DaFonie had in stock.
Shiny silver Izumi, dunno which type. Not stamped NJS.
Sounds like a bag of spanners.
Any silencing ideas?
