  • So after building the Peacemaker, then converting an old Dawes road bike to singlespeed for a hack bike, I went and bought this on ebay for 25 quid...

I had bought it for the mudguards for another bike, but it seems a shame to take them off now... The 'guards are a little rusty, and there are a few worn patches on the bike itself, but the ONLY thing wrong is the wheels are both buckled, and it was about time I learned how to sort that.

The rod brakes are perfect, the singlespeed gear feels about 70" or so, and the saddle springs even have life in them despite being rusty.

There's a serial number on the seat tube right near the top that might help identify it, and the bell is stamped with a name, 'Gray' I think, and 'Kirkintilloch'.

All it needs now are new grips and a basket.

  • Classic! Good old rod brakes.

  • Bargain. If you find that you don't have space for it/don't ride it enough, and want to double your money, let me know!

  • Nice, it would be wrong so strip it apart you are right. becareful on those Scottish hills with the rod brakes!
