Richard's Bicycle Book was very good BITD - presumably it's been updated to take account of technological advances?
Yes, it's now Richard's 21st Century Bicycle Book according to Amazon.

check your local library...they're free!!! i ended up with 6. im not sure, but i think the ones i found to be most helpful was Bicycling Magazine's Complete Guide to Bicycle Maintenance and Sloane's new bicycle maintenance manual.
seeing every part in exploded view helps a lot...

Richard's Bicycle Book is brilliant.
When I was about seven I went to school with his son, going round to their house was amazing for a young impressionable boy, there were about a thousand bikes of every sort in every room. When I use the book I know that he lives and breaths it and knows whats going on.
Can anyone recommend a decent bicycle repair manual/maintenance guide that i should get my hands on for when i want to mess about with bikes - take em apart put em back together again?
