One day in London/ which shops

Posted on
  • Gonna be in London for one day.
What are the the 5 bike shops i have to see.

If possible not too far in the suburb ...

  • hubjub.co.uk and Condor

    was that 5 ?

  • London for a day? I'd skip all the bike shops!

If I had to choose, Brixton would be fave but I've only been there once.

  • search the forum this thread has already been done

  • Harrods
    Hamleys
    Lillywhites
    Selfridges
    Liberty

  • I believe there are quite a few evans in London.

  • Condor (a little track stuff and a lot of road stuff)
Brick Lane Bikes - fair amount vintage stuff/NOS/track - often some decent kit in
Brixton - good for bits and the very cool Brixton Cycle Gear (they have a good website that lists what they carry plus pictures)
Mosquito - Carry a fair bit of singlespeed/track stuff. London's official SOMA and Phil dealer.
Cavendish Cycles - Not a massive amount of stuff but have IROs etc

May also want to check out London Fields (as they have Dolans and others - but pretty small stock) and Witcomb is always worth a trip but only if you get to talk to Barrie (otherwise theres a disappointing amount of eye candy for a shop with such a pedigree).

Best thing to do is phone around if you're after something in particular. London shops tend to carry a small amount of stuff and it gets turned over pretty quick.

  • Condor
    Cycle Surgery Holborn
    Brick Lane Bikes
    Cavendish Street Cycles
    Brixton Cycles

  • Science Museum / Natural History Mueum
    V & A
    London Eye
    St Pauls
    Tate Britain

  • tut tut........the design museum is a must.

  • ...and the Japanese Cantine at St.Pauls for Lunch

  • winston Science Museum / Natural History Mueum
    V & A
    London Eye
    St Pauls
    Tate Britain

    What he said, but
    a) I'm more of a Modern than a Britian person myself and
    b) Don't try and do it all in one day!

    Enjoy The Smoke.

  • Also - The Eye is a litte bit boring and can have a massive que - the London Monument is better and only £2.

However, going on one of these is great: http://www.londonribvoyages.com/

Bomb up and down the Thames really fast!

  • +1 for the London Monument. It fills in some of the London Eye's blindspots. There's also a duel ticket option for London Monument + Tower Bridge that's good value.

  • Okay, scrap the monument idea. It is great, but closed for refub til dec 2008! Bugger.

  • Nooooooooooooooooooooooo........

  • Ah the soane museum, a controversial but worthwhile choice :)

  • what about hamleys and you can get a nice teddy bear :)

or spend all your money on booze and hookers in soho :)

  • meneer John Soane's museum

    +1. And it's free :-)

  • dogsballs what about hamleys and you can get a nice teddy bear :)
