Seen ceramic 6000 bearings marketed for completely diff purpose (fishing rod reels!) for 30 GN; would they make an amazingly smooth upgrade or be a disaster waiting to happen?

Probably an amazingly smooth upgrade AND a disaster waiting to happen.
They might not be strong enough to use in bikes! But then again, you never know.
