I've got 'em on my Fuji. They work. Not got much to compare them to apart from some truvativ cranks on my mates Bianchi. I'd go so far to say that they work and if you're wanting them for your beater to lock up in liverpool st. station then yeah. If for anything nice. No.

have a few friends who have them. one sheared the pedal portion off, one torqued the driveside in a sprint.
i forget what the interface is, but i always thought the general consensus was to go with square taper over isis or octalink or anything else.personally, suginoRDs are great, and if you have the money go with sugino75s

Are they not square taper?? kiwi's site went down after my first look.. doh!

I think they come in a bunch of different configs.
I had the square taper ones, and they took my not insubstantial bulk in their stride without even a squeak. You can source them complete with a ShimaNO BB for a shade over forty notes, which must be a bargain. Better yet I can sell you a pair in donkey-cum cream with syphilis-purple barber poles. £800 to you, my colonial cousin.
Don't forget the chainring is dished. You can mount a standard ring indside the spider, though.
-

Dished chainring? WTF are you talking about?
I've emailed kiwibikes about 'em but where have you seen 'em with BB for £40?
I'll pass on your £800 offer.. but if it were to decrease.. ? -
• #9
The chainring ain't flat. It's, how can I put this.....
dished.
It mounts on the outside of the spider but the chainline is inside the spider.
If yer put it on the table teeth down, the mounting holes would be 5mm or so off the table.
It's a cheap n' nasty crank repurposed for fixie idiots who'll pay over the odds fer any old shite. byercycles have it for 29 notes, i'm sure you can score a BB for a tenner.
I suspect you can source this crank with two chainrings for way less.
-
• #10
they are square and apparently FSA made, who also apparently make an identical set of cranks with an ISIS interface..?
-
• #11
With postage, it'd be cheaper if I could pick up from kiwicycles.
I would prefer used but good condition ones.. but if I can't find anything old quickly I will have to go for these or the on-ones. Can't be doing this Tube shit! -
• #12
Careful with the On-One's HipFlask.
Mostly specced for 135mm.
Hence the new flatbar Pomp. Uses up the frames and the cranksets...

tell us what you really think...

You can source it with double or triple rings for less. Some places are charging 60 odd sheets for it.
If you google its model number (CFM/CFJ****) you'll find it on some VERY cheap bikes.

If this has something to do with picking up your frame from Witcombe give me a whisper - I think I can help you.

Think you've crossed yer wires there stompy.
Hippy is the Tubephobe, I have a Witcomb to collect.
-
• #17
nice strong cheap crankset, that or go sugine gd's
-
• #18
When I first converted my Pug I used an On-One rear 120mm and RPM crankset (square taper).
The hub is fine, as far as I can tell. The cranks less so.
Put it this way... the left crank is now used as a paperweight on my desk.

No, I'm sure he was talking about a mountain bike frame he's had sprayed.

Yeah, my GT mtb is at Whitcomb for a snappage fixup..
Tube isn't too bad coz I'm at end of the line and get a seat, it's actually the bus ride to the station that sucks more.
Like today, ended up getting off before the second last stop because traffic is so bad the driver just gave up and opened the doors!
That IMNSHO is fscked! I fume away paying to be stuck in traffic watching bikes go past.. it could make a sane man kill.. -

Just to jump on this thread for a slightly unrelated query...I have RPMs...they work fine so far, though i am thinking of changing the ring for summit smaller.
Currently running a 48/16 and with the wind on the up me knees are feeling it a tad. How do you calculate the BCD of the ring accurately to know that it'll fit. Im thinking of some GEBHARDT rings. -
• #23
bcd on the RPM is 130
you could also put a 18t cog on the back, cheaper too... -
• #24
yup but my set up is a bit crazy. I got no more clearance on drop outs to bring the chain forward to accomadate a larger cog at the back...hence
thanks for thew BCD number! -
