paul's
-
• #3
They're both the shit. Aesthetically(to match your colour scheme) I'd got with the Sugino but if your a flash c*** I'd go for the Paul's as they look the bizznizz
-
• #4
I'd always go with the Suginos:
1) They're pretty much the stiffest cranks you can buy
2) 144BCD standard - so anyone of 1000s of chainrings will fit. Unlike the Pauls which have propriety chainrings. (Although I did hear that Paul may make an adapator to run standard chainrings - so how much of any issue this is remains to be seen)
3) Designed for 42mm chainline - track standardThe Pauls are best suited to a sunday special bike - one you ride occasionally. The Suginos are best suited for everyday riding.
However, the Pauls are better looking than the Purple Suginos so its the age ol' style versus practicality debate. Only you can decide on that one.

d0gs: How much were both those cranksets and do they include sprocket? Oh and were they new?
-
• #6
exactly the conundrum i'm in :(
-
• #7
yep both brand spankers and 48T in. Both over $US200 and sugino more expensive. i'll whisper the exact
-
• #8
if aesthetics rules it has to be the Paul's - beautiful crankset. the Sugino's are quite nice too but i think the purple will soon start to grate
-
• #9
i've got a purple bike though!! doubt sugino will ever do them.
-
• #10
I'm not entirely sure why people like the paul's so much?... god they remind me of profile's black jack sprocket (chainring?) and that is most definately not a good thing..
-
• #11
dogsballs i've got a purple bike though!!
yeah, but for how long db?
i have had two purple(ish) bikes, in fact make that three - always seemed like a good idea at the time. in fact, nearly bought another purple bike recently. i never learn
-

hey, you sayin i'm a bike whore?! :p could make my money back on e-bay though for sure.
-
• #13
should check your chainline if you fit the Paul's as they where designed for 44mm to suit Paul hubs instead of the 42mm fixed standard

Is he ridersparadise store?
Didn't receive my SP72, got no response to emails, ended up going through PayPal resolution.

Not remotely impressed.

fuck dogsballs if you still have the purple cranks i'll take them off your hands, planning on spraying my armstrong purple. I haven't checked to see if anyone else has made an offer haha fingers crossed
...on second thoughts, £200+ would be more than i've spent on anything else on the bike so far, including the phil wood/cxp33 front wheel. haha

asm your bike is going to be more bling than bike!
-
• #25
asm, do you want the purple chainring bolts? little cheaper. stuff going on ebay today.
well, i've accidentally bought two sets of really nice cranksets. still waiting for them to arrive, but curious what people think i should do. This is to go on a purple/grey bike, with black/silver wheelset.
got a nice purple pair of sugino 75 with purple 48T ring (also found some purple chainring bolts)
OR
a paul components black 165mm with black 48T
i'm tending towards the black paul compenents, so anyone want the purple cranks, slamm?
