hippy Don't they already have your contact details if they've won your auction?
He hasn't even won yet, that is the problem. He's trying to do things outside of Ebay by the looks of things, which they strongly advise against. I told him to get lost anyway and he's not been back yet.
peejay78 if he is actually your cousin, like he says he is, then surely there's no issue?
"give your email for paypal cuz"
Ha ha, problem is he's not from the good side of the family so I need to tread carefully.

"I wan to buy ze wheels for £50, I will send you a cheques"
A cheque comes in the post for £800 addressed to me no signature.
"Can you pay this in and send the balance to my girlfriend in Canada by Western Union^
The cheque is not signed
"you sign it and pay it in and by employer will pass it for payment.
Mmmmm should I do Noooo

How gullible are you?
Just throw the cheque away its a scam. one that you are dragged in to by signing the cheque.
-
• #23
I dunno. It depends how much time you have on your hands.
I had a Nigerian one a bit like that so struck up a dialogue. It ended when they told me where they lived and as luck would have it my Nigerian friend's cousin lived nearby so they could cut out all the bank faff and just meet directly.
Still it was a welcome distraction from revision at the time.

The cheque is due to bounce, but will be credited to your account an take a while to bounce. Avoid.

Usually they are drawn on a company account so they will automatically clear, then the company in question will question the payment and the bank will recall it.
You will end up without the wheels AND the £800.
Of course, I strongly advise you to pay the cheque in then email the chap saying "actually I've just spent the money on 100,000 Ginger biscuits, I'm afraid there is none left to send you".
I just got this message from someone looking at an item I have for sale on Ebay: 'give your email for paypal cuz i must send money via paypal i have some problems with pay normal on pay pal'.
I told him I only want to complete the transaction within Ebay, using Paypal. It pays to be suspicious in these circumstances I reckon. Has anyone else experienced anything like this or have any idea what, if he is being dodgy, he would be hoping achieve by his actions? It just seems really odd.
