  • BJ say they threw all theirs away as they deteriorated and were no longer usable. Guess I could always try hand lettering, but anyone sitting on or heard of stock?

    Cheers.

  • When I was over at BJ and looking at the board they have for all of the transfers they've ever had, they told me that they were all now discontinued apart from the modern one. I bet if u gave them a call they'd be able to help

  • I have the same problem. I'm getting my 1970s Bob Jackson resprayed as the rear dropout needs to be replaced. I don't really want the modern transfers. Did you ever find any old B.J transfers?

    Thanks.

  • lloyds

but then a forum search might have been the best way to find that out.

  • Thanks, but i've looked at Lloyd's list and i can't see any Bob Jackson Items listed.

  • I've been looking into this very question today for a path frame I'm having enamelled which is allegedly an old Jackson. Nick at Lloyd's doesn't seem to have any. Jackson's themsleves have old transfers, but you probably will need to refurb your frame with them as they don't like selling them. I just called them about this very thing this morning, asking for JRJ decals (which is the original name of Bob Jackson, pre 1960ish), they said they won't sell the decals to me without respraying the frame with them. Next best thing - make your own?

I've decided to put a random set on mine, that look sort of in-the-period, and are obscure enough for no-one to notice it's not really what it says it is.

ring him up. he's got all sorts of stuff that's not on his list.

  • My bike is currently with Bob Jackson to have a new dropout brazed on. It's going to damage the paintwork and i was considering a respray, but they say they only have the new style transfers available. I would like to keep the bike in period.

  • In 2007 I bought transfers from BJ without having my frame re-painted there?
I emailed some pics of the frame with the serial number etc so they could identify it as one of there frames and then they sent me a transfer set... £15 I think they were.

I did ask for the old style ones but the guy told they didn't stock them anymore?

  • I've not actually used this, I want to. It might be worth a try, for the price. If you've got the font you need. Although, the way she says "paper" and "water" makes me want to ram her head in to the bowl. Welcome to the world which is.......................

i have some of this stuff if you want to give it a try first can give some sheets.

  • Does it work well?

  • its ok but i think i balls'd it up a bit, some one with patients and a steady hand when cutting it could do a good job on it. Think you would need to clear coat over it as i found it peeled up easily but as i said that clould have just been me being a tool.

  • the owner of this bike had bj decals made for him. I think they look a bit off...

  • fruitbat has a BJ from about 1986, ask him nicely and you could copy his.

  • Try calling Mario Vaz 07956 314216... Don't know where he gets his from but he seems to be able to get anything you need...

  • Teenslain for the win.

The only thing obviously wrong about those copied decals above^ are that they're mixed red and gold, and you really oughtn't put *any*thing on the top tube unless you must have your name.

What's infuriating about this Bob Jackson decal business is the fact that those old block letters are SO Ffing beautiful compared to the current ones. Why do they change them?! If it ain't broken ...

I just found some repro JRJ's (wicked!), I'd been emailing Nick Tithecott at the wrong email, what a dumbass.

Probably the smartest thing anyone'll say all day...

Although I have a '70s Bob Jackson with lettering on the top tube.

  • ^^ Pfff... Obviously Bob Jackson's BJ, innit? Nice frame... :]
