• gay!

  • Pretty soon they will be compulsory.

    (along with brakes)

  • I love this idea, give people a false sense of security by fitting this to their bike and then whatch them get run over as they use these poor indicators to change lanes, don't use their arm or look over their shoulder and get put in hospital. Must be backed by Jeremy clarkson.

    Worst safty acessory ever.

  • Jaysus. What's the point in having lights if the drivers don't look anyway?

  • hahahaha

    oh dear

    oh dear

    oh dear

  • kipsy: Do you get Parker's emails as well? :)

  • What wrong with good old hand signals anyway? ....no not that type of hand signal ;-)

  • Is there any circumstance/scenario when, for a cyclist on a UK road, indicating left is safer than actually just turning left?

  • Hi all,

Been looking as a guest for a while, so I thought I'd finally post.

Saw these indicator thingies in the bike shop near work and they're huge, the rear one's like 20-30 cm across!

  • Mouse Is there any circumstance/scenario when, for a cyclist on a UK road, indicating left is safer than actually just turning left?

Say you're on top of the "T".. you are turning left down the T and a car facing you wants to turn right down the T also.
If they think you are going straight ahead they might misjudge your speed (more than usual) and turn into you. Indicating might reduce this chance.

Changing lanes from the right lane to the left lane.. indicating is nice and stops Mr Scooter from running up you backside..

Sure there's more. Indicating is nice. It shows people you care :)

  • Im gonna fit front and rear bumpers on my bike and perhaps change the handle bars to a steering wheel!

  • Renn Hi all,

    Hi Renn!

Are you a disc wheel :) or is Renn short for something.. methinks you should dig up the "What does your username mean" thread and add to the "my face my bike" thread.

  • @ Hippy: not convinced. Surely if they're turning right - across the flow of traffic - they are going to wait for you to pass before turning? When you don't pass them but turn down the road, they just turn after you but earlier than they would have done if they'd anticipated you carrying straight over the junction?

Sorry I should continue this conversation over on C+. I've yellow carded myself...

  • Car.. waiting.. for.. a bike.. what's that? Perhaps.. but that's why I gave you the second scenario ;)

  • @ hippy:

Ah Damnit! I managed to post on the wrong account, see the username thread for the story, use at night instead of Horlicks.
