  • Okay, so this is a bit early, but I thought of it while we had to think about what to do for our Departmental xmas party.

Anyone have any ideas for a ride we could do on the weekend of 29/30 December?

Just think - crisp clear day, empty roads, and the chance to burn off all those turkey calories.

    Bueller?

  • I'll be back from Poland then.. Methinks it will be cold so we should have a pub with a fire. Anyone know a pub with lockup area, open fire and it's a Sunday so a(nother) roast! :)

  • sounds like my kind of ride.... Sunday roast and beer

  • The roast and the beer come after a couple of hundred kay riding into the country-side, mind you.. :)

  • Sounds like a great plan!

  • So I'm not the only nutter who feels like riding out to find a country pub to get some miles and beer in.

    Excellent. Thanks guys

I just wanted to float the notion, and see if anyone has any ideas about where we could go.

Please - no lists just yet!

    Just fucking with ya! :)

  • Sadly (or not, depending on how you look at it) I will be on a plane, somewhere over the international date line, heading for New Zealand.

    Where it will be summer.

    Muhahahahahahahahahahah.

  • But it does sound like a great idea, you know I'd be in if I were here.

  • new road bike should be up and ready by then. and as per last year, i'll be going on an early morning london cycle on the 25th. so a cycle out on the 29th sounds great...even though i might not be fixed.

I'd love to do that; but I'll be in Bournemouth. :-(

    You utter b@stard!
I had to bail on taking the WHOLE of December off to show my grrl around Oz, because she couldn't get time off! Fscking sh1t sticks!!

  • we should make it christmas day to take advantage of the emptier london roads

  • Um.. some people might be busy on that day.. dunno why..

  • flickwg we should make it christmas day to take advantage of the emptier london roads

I think most people have commitments on Christmas day, or like me, are out of London. New Year doesn't have as much of a hold on people

  • If I am here I would like to come.
Just need to sort a date. 29th looks good.

  • Ride to Clacton-on-Sea?

  • southend?

  • I'd do Southend too.

  • We've done Southend.. could do again but anywhere else?

  • What about heading up? Some great pubs in Long melford....

    Muhahahahahahahahahahah.

You do know it'll be piss'n it down that time of year in NZ
I'd much rather go for a winter ride.

  • st ives, 2 c the man and his seven wives!

  • There are a few nice pubs heading south around the Biggin Hill/Westerham ride...

What sort of mileage are we looking at?

  • Given we're riding as a peloton, we should aim for a nice, easy 200mi yeah?
