just a little bit of hairspray/wd40 or even water/alcohol so you don't end up with throttle grip.. although that probably isn't much of a problem on a road bike?..
or if they have closed ends, just find an air compressor, fit the grips a little bit on the bars and blow some air between the grip and the bars while pushing the grips - they'll go right in with no effort and you won't have to wait until hairspray/wd40 dries.

WD40 is a lubricant. Is it wise to stick it under grips?
I used to use Coke, as in cola not cocaine - I'm not that rich.
It dries sticky and grippy and yet can be washed out so doesn't involve paint on the bars (some peeps used to stick grips on with spray paint). -

Or just spit on it. (not my wee wee)

these are evil, took me about an hour to get a pair on last night, with mega amounts of wd40. ended up folding them on themselves then twisting them on and trying to unravel the rest. PITA!!

you can get grip cement from hubjub i think, if you want to be fancy.
-
• #14
don't need cement, by the time they are on, they aren't budging for a long time, even with wd40.
-
• #15
Dip in hot, soapy water for 5 mins...

i used petrol for my strong g's put a bit on the inside of the grip and on the bars with a small paint brush, thay went straight on, you have to be quick before the fuel evaporates (i wouldnt smoke a fag to celebrate your achievements)

spit, works for me, won't wd40 degrade the rubber / silicone that they're made of?....which is why you should never use vaseline with a a condom.
-
• #18
Or wd40.

Place between three or four zipties through the inside of the grip then slide the grips onto the bar. It's nice and wasy as the zipties holds the rubber away from the bars for friction-less ease. When the grips are in place pull the zip ties out (With a pair of pliers if needs be).
Easy.

these keiren grips are really tight fit though. you struggle to stretch them over the end of the bar, let alond fit 4 zip ties.
-
• #21
other way around, fit the zip ties inside the grip while it's off the bars.. It'll slide pretty easy on the bars, but sometimes it can be a pain to pull the zip ties out afterwards.. never thought of pliers though!

i understand what he's saying, but the bastards are soo long, wherein lies the problem.
i reckon we have a competition, who can get some new keiran grips on the fastest. the first person wins a kiss.........from...........my mum :p

I use this for fitting my grips to my bmx too. Makes sliding them round corners a breeze.
