Finally fixed...

After many months of saving, sourcing, swapping and invaluable advice from this site its finally time to quit lurking...

Finished building up my bike about 10 minutes ago (save wrapping the bars and shortening the brake cable) and I'm super chuffed with the outcome - the first bike I've put together that actually resembles my plans for it...looks like the SS beater is relegated back to the shed.

Can't wait to get amongst it in the morning!

In the haste to get a photo up, I neglected the geek out...

Its a 52cm, Reynolds 631 Donohue frame, with swapped out Cougar forks (for slightly less overlap).The infamous Mr. Vaz treated it to a respray and though it is pinker than intended, the finish is really nice. The wheels are a budget job from Edwardes, Formula hubs on Xkeymet XR-300 rims (???). Everything else is pretty obvious I guess.

If you haven't already (and I'm guessing you have) take her out for a quick spin, nothing like a ride in the dead of night, with nothing but you the wind and soft sodium orange glow of the streetlights above.

I got Mario to spray it in a flat colour and then apply a pearlescent laqueur...it is actually a lot less pink in the flesh (!), and has sort of coppery/ brown hues to it. The cranks are Sugino RD Messengers, 165mm - I agree though, they look long in the picture, might be an effect of persepctive of just bloody great big pedals!
