Sniper?

Yet again been outbid on ebay - Did I see a post on here about Snipe or Sniper for getting last minute bids in?
Sure that is what is happening to me, and feel it's time to try it myself?

Why not just wait until the last 10sec to bid? That's what snipe software does.
If you are not winning auctions, you're not bidding high enough. Simple.

Well that is true, but I always get out bid by 50p of a £1 at the very last minute - even when I bid with 15 seconds to go?
It's so frustrating!!!

yeah but thats not cos they're bidding nearer to the end, they just put in a higher max bid.

theres no way you would out bid a sniper at 10 seconds to go....it can be set to as low as 2 seconds to go...if you cant beat em join em!

No, i have the highest bid right up to the last second - then when I think it's mine, it says you were out bid!!!
Obviously if every time I bid and someone has bid more I ain't gonna be the highest bidder!
Same type of item I have been bidding on and everytime I lose, even when I bid over the sensible amount in an ebay infused frenzy!!!!

if you bid that, and someone goes over, then he's paying what you consider to be over the odds. so it's fine.

Yeah but if you put in a bid that's £30 over the current bid at sub 10 secs to go the snipe won't get there in time in £1.50 increments. I rarely lose auctions if I'm there at the end using this method. It can only refresh as quickly as we can to know that it has been outbid and it has to keep doing it until it gets back on top.

You have the highest bid until the last second.. after which someone bids higher. Which means you didn't have the highest bid at auction close.
A bid sniping tool will only bid up to the max that the user has entered. If you want the item more than the sniper user, bid more than their max bid and you win the item... no matter what software trickery they are using. HIGHest bidder wins.

If you are already bidding over the sensible amount for an item then so are the bidders that are beating you.
If you want to win an item, bid higher than everyone else. Do I really need to say it again? Yes, why not.. big higher than everyone else and you win. Cool huh?

I used to bid snipe. I don't bother now because the same can be accomplished manually. Bid sniping is only really useful when you can't bid manually.

I'd say the whole point about ebay is to get something cheaper, if you're getting outbid, its because the other bidder wants it more and is willing to pay more for it. Simple. If you have a budget for what you want and set a price for what you can afford, inc postage, and it goes over. shrug your shoulders and move on. Don't get caught up in the bidding frenzy, in that direction lies money madness and a blown budget etc etc etc.

And you know what it might take a bit longer (weeks/months rather than days/weeks) but another part will come down the pipe and you'll get it at a price you can afford. Getting outbid is frustrating, but thats the risk you take looking for something cheaper on ebay, if you brought it from a shop you wouldn't get outbid on it, it would just be more expensive. full stop.

Except now people think ebay is cheaper and don't even bother to check online stores.. this results in people bidding too much.

But, you will eventually get that bargain you want, because, every once in a while, the stupid people have to sleep...

Yeah, all correct, just frustrated! In fact, most kit I source from retailers as ebay is often full of overpriced gear anyway.
Thing is, sometimes I want old parts, and they are what I get out bid on... Like you say, someone is willing to pay more than me...

Arh! ebay is nowt like a real auction. We need real face to face bike auctions like you get for cars e.t.c, then it's eye ball to eye ball, gets the heart pumping. I am going to start them down a polo, people bring their bits sellers put a reserve and band let the bidding commence!

Still gonna be a case of the person ready to drop the most cash walks away happy..

What are people using these days?

I use www.bidnapper.com. There may be better but have used this reliably for years so never tried others.

I still use http://bidnip.com/ - works well for me.
