  • well thats good.
at least it means that bike prices might go down: (simple equation)
    fixed gear= 'cool'
    Sunday Times= not
    Therefore, logically:
Fixed-gear in sunday times= uncool. Therefore, in summary, we can hope that bike prices go down.

  • "If you see just a chain and a wheel, then they’re officially a Cool Person." - Thanks Tom - Sarcastic yay.

  • I like how it takes three weeks to get used to fixed.

Good to see us getting some publicity.

  • yeah, it's greeeeeat. how did i miss that article? i'm so upset.

  • Like it needs publicity.

    Sarcastic w00t.

  • I'd rather be a microbrewery.

  • it was also in the sat magazine

  • Nah, friend of mine got stopped by some coppers (anothe story), one asked him where his brakes where... cue him explaining how the whole fixed thing works and the law says you don't need brakes if you're fixed ...and they believed him!

  • What a shit article.

    Also:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R5mxMOGLiRw

They make it sound like doing this spin is only doable on a fixed wheel.
Likewise the other video is kinda crappy compared to some of the other videos on Youtube.

  • i don't know where it ws mentioned but that puma 101 thingy was written by this guy:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CD-qkmBWZEA&mode=related&search=

  • Except for the stuff about brakes, I though it was a pretty good article, they even used the correct "fixed wheel". Of course people who think fixed is "cool" won't like it , cos if a national newspaper writes about it, it can't be "cool" init?

  • lol, yup too right mate.

  • Listen to his voice: Team Poo-ma.
    Go team !

That 101 thing was pretty patronising if you actually knew anything about the fixed-wheel.

  • i have read the fronrt page

  • yeah, i wish i could ride for teeeam poo-ma. word!

  • Is it some kind of 'older women skat-fest' team?

  • MA3K, i second that. that poo-ma 101 thing annoys me...

and did anyone read the link to that rant (yes it does read like a rant) on some even shittier newspaper?

"For men, the bikes present another challenge: Because riders can't stand up in the saddle to coast, long rides can result in reduced blood flow to the reproductive organs, which studies suggest may lead to impotence."

does any of the audax guys you know stand up when they coast? even they ride geared bikes they don't coast that much anyway! f**kin bollocks

  • Rode fixed for years, was a teenage skateboarder, took drugs, drank too much, listened to loud music,

and I have the most perfect daughter in the world.

    It is all cycle-hating bullshit.

    So mister columnistenger:
you are telling me a guy who drives everyday, eats too many pies, doesn't take exercise, loves watching Top-Gear is more virile than me?
    I disagree.

After-all there can't be much blood-flow to the penal region when you are sat on your fat ass all day long.

  • Don't mess around with team Puma or with Squid allright. Nuff respect for those guys. You don't know what your talking about......

  • Bet they can ride faster than you....

  • no photovben, Jos will race and beat everyone.

  • Ahh, I meant those people dissing our american fixed cousins. Thought people would like to see us in the media, clearly not :(

David sink this thread before it's too late!

  • I was pleased when I saw it on Saturday......now I'm looking forward to ending my 3rd week of fixed, and suddenly seeing the light!

  • I never /quote/dissed /unquote/ anyone for their achievements, just their pronunciation which is a legit point of order.

As for that 101 guide, it elucidated me not a bit and I just thought it was 'trendy' pandering, Puma co-branding of something I have been doing for years and hold dear to my heart.

Maybe you got more out of it than I did.
