it's the levers that matter.
depends on the cable-end fitting. pear shaped? bullet or flat disc?
sounds like you want ordinary road ones.
tips? get a proper cable cutter

vbrake levers for vbrakes only. i believe cross top are for calipers only...
type of cable depends on what the levers take. i think move vbrakes are barrel type. crosstops are pear ended?...im looking for a white one!

v brake levers pull more cable too.

Cool, so from what you've said it just matters about the lever end of the cable, and get decent wire cutters.
Those campag v brakes have quite short arms, hence reducing mechanical advantage. I'll get cross tops, and see how they go. Then if they're rubbish, I'll switch to Dia-Compe 287Vs which pull enough cable for Vs. If I really don't like the idea of aero levers though, I might just use a Travel Agent even though they're a bit of gludge. Better than riding what would effectively be brakeless anyway!
I know brake cables and gear cables aren't interchangeable, but can you basically use any brake cables with any brakes?
I'll be using these:
with either cross tops or Dia Compe 287V levers. Most likely to be cross tops though.
Taaaaa.
Edit: Any tips for installing brake cables? Never done it before :)
