damn.. did noone come up with a lifetime warranty on road frames yet?
-
• #9
it's a track frame ;)
and it's quite light.
to be honest, crashes like that would damage even a surly steamroller
-
• #10
ah, shite , sorry renan, didn't notice that last night, .................

unxetas damn.. did noone come up with a lifetime warranty on road frames yet?
that's crash damage, some manufacturers offer a crash replacement (discount frame) but what's happened to that frame is not a warranty defect the importer/retailer is going to laugh at you if you want a new frame.
i think cannondale warranty their frames for life? -

i think cannondale warranty their frames for life?[/quote]well the crash replacement sounds pretty good.. A few bmx companies do offer lifetime warranties on their frames, which is pretty cool :) But I guess ultra-lightweight road bikes are a little to fragile..
Which kinda reminds me - I see all these videos on youtube of guys riding fixies jumping curbs and doing 180's.. Are there any frames built with that in mind? Or at least generally considered strong enough to withstand some of that abuse? What about rims? :)

Damn, sorry to hear about that. I know when Stef phoned me saying there was a crash, I thought somebody got hit. Glad to hear you're ok. Shame about the 'knuckle
-

^Yeah, i was right behind you when it happened! Following you cos you seemed to know where the checkpoint was. The ditch was on high holborn, kind of opposite evans cycles on the pavement to the right a bit. It was dark, and i assumed it was flat, so i couldn't see it till i knew i was gonna hit it.
I think any frame would've been done for in this particular crash, impact was HARD. What sucks is, i've never even had so much as a scratch/fall on this bike, and the first one is a write-off.
What sucks even more is, it was really sunny today! -

it sucks mate.
hope you still have something to ride?
there's more roadworks and potholes and shit this time of year, unfortunately. It all gets done when the weather is meant to be fine and the schools are on holiday so the roads are quieter.

Yeah, gonna drive to some car boot sales tomorrow..might find a dusty old colnago from some house-clearance stall!
"How much for the bike, mate?"
"£20, mate"
"But it's got a puncture..."
"Alright, £10". -
• #21
cool man. good luck!
-
• #22
obviously you need to get back on the road but what about the next one
I mean are you going to go Japan, or hand made British or perhaps something with a European flavor
-
• #23
Dunno. Cross that bridge when i get to it.
-
• #24
what bridge?
Following in Imoncrank's footsteps, i have also broken my bareknuckle. Went straight into a kind of ditch last night. Initially i tried to ride on, but i had a flat, and I thought the wheel was just a bit buckled, released the brake cable and fixed the puncture. Rode to LBS to find this bastard dent in the downtube (i was wondering why it felt so twitchy and dead). Forks are also fuckered, bent steerer tube and its kinda ruptured by the right lug.
I think what happened was, my wheel hit the concrete with enough force that it bent the fork steerer tube in towards the frame, forcing the wheel into the frame and denting it. I'm alright, though.
So, i need : frame, forks, and probably a rim since the rim is a bit dented as well.
Thanks to dicki, raekwan (the chef!), and stef for seeing if i was alright.
What a drag...
