TDF Paris final

  • My jammy ass flatmate is visiting his girlfriend in Paris next weekend and it going to be there to see the final. She's only been there a month and he's never been before. Anyone recommend where they should go to watch the tour? Cheers.

  • Um... try the Champs-Élysées

  • I lived there for four years....Paris is so small and the metro so good, you can watch it on the telly until they reach the suburbs then just nip down to the finishing circuit....as they come out out of the tunnel onto the rue de Rivoli is quite a good spot....the Champs Elysee is always busy...TDF or not..there will be huge crowds.....Arc de Triomphe end is quieter, they slow down for the turn and you can take some nice piccies....

The finishing straight is all hospitality grandstand seating and commentary boxes....so you won't be able to get close to there anyway....I was lucky enough to have tickets for there a few years back, was great, got to meet a few riders and even walked casually into the Eurosport commentary box during the podium presentation.

The team buses are usually all parked in the NW corner of Place de la Concorde and US Postal used to stay in that posh hotel right in that corner...if you can slip into this area after the race it's worth doing as most riders and teams are quite approachable.

  • Yeah, he's kinda annoyed cause I said he could have my press pass which will get him into the VIP area, but he'd with the gfriend and can't leave her on her own. Cheers for the advice, I'll pass it on.
