  • need to see it in context as well fella - where it sits on the body etc...

  • Isn't it a bit redundant if you're usually carrying around a bag anyway?

  • is that what the septics call a 'fanny pack'?

  • you know, you might have just invented

    ---- The Cycle Sporran ----

  • Could you incorporate someway of attaching it to your bike (to the seat top tube etc?)

On aesthetic note I don't like the shiny black, it makes it look kinda cheap. Though I do like the bright inner material as it is always a nightmare finding stuff in the black abyss that is my Chome.

Also could the waist strap be used as a shoulder strap as the idea of wearing what would essentially be a 'fanny pack' would put me off especially if im going down my local.

  • I have a Bagaboo hip pouch thing, for the same reasons you describe. (ie: wanting to carry a lock, puncture stuff, keys etc without having the whole enormous bag palaver.)

Yours looks really neat - I like the way the sides of the opening go right up the flap (oo-er!) - should keep the grot out.

A couple of things I'd change, though: I'd like the lock to go on the outside, since they tend to get covered in crud. And I'm not sure about the plastic clip - I reckon one of those magnetic things from a handbag would be better. And an outside pocket is always good for those non-valuable yet essential things like sweets & small change.

  • I agree with mr_tom about the lock being on the outside. Mine is rather greasy because I lock through my rear wheel and it touches the chain.

I'm not a fan of hip packs/bum bags/fanny packs/whatever myself. I just use a saddle bag for mini tools etc. and carry my u lock in my back pocket or on my belt.

  • Looks dead nice.

I'd certainly be interested in a bag that can take U-lock, wallet, phone, keys, a few key tools and not much else. Are you going to be selling them?

It is waterproof yeah? If that's the only bag I'm carrying I need my mobile to be kept dry.

  • i'm up for one of these - looks ideal for the pub! let us know when youre taking orders.....

  • An option for a inner pocket for the mobile instead of pen slots would be nice. I'd pay more for that. If you can't tell, I like my mobile ;)

  • Could you not have a full pocket for the lock? That way peeps with dirty locks can still keep them inside but they'd be separate from wallet, etc.

  • think i like the whole thing apart from the shiny cordura... looks a bit like sthg from a sex shop... or maybe that's actually why i like it, fanny bag and many of those other uses to the imagination.

i reckon it can be used by the shy ones as a "loin cloth/bag" for next year's naked bike ride.

  • When will you have the stuff to start making these? I'm a firm order when you're ready.

  • Hmm the improvements sound good :)

  • BTW, that outside zip pocket isn't of any value to me. If it's not waterproof and it's really slim, I can't see the point. Put that pocket on the inside and that's the mobile phone taken care of.

  • hear hear for the inside phone pocket....

  • it's nice, but is the shiny black a little ..S&M?

  • how about fitting a mini pump somewhere????
    would be interested

  • nimhbus it's nice, but is the shiny black a little ..S&M?

Scott has already said that he made it out of truck tarp because the condura hasn't arrived!

  • looks goos scott not scot. I made one the other day and tried it out on the bridges ride they work quite well. Even if you have a bag I think they can be usefull to take heavy items like tools and locks out of your bag and palce the weight on your hips. Plus it frees up some space in your bag if it is full.

I also agree a good sytem for converting it into a saddle bag would be good I think reload hip pouch has that feature. I guess you could just do it with a short piece of webbing running through the belt loop.

Here is a project for you. A carriage style big saddle bag with a quick realise mechanisum for when you popo into the shops plus some sort of quickly removable shoulder strap if you are sopping and starting alot or walking about so you can sling it on your shoulder. I love these big saddle bags but that is pro just me.

  • looks a nice bag, as you said better when you get the cordura, will be interested.
yey cammo! Will match my wet weather cammo jump suit

  • I've fished stuff like that out of drains..
