  • sh*t that was impressive,

my legs hurt just watching that

  • yeah, it rocked. Soler Hernandez is so funny, I love his attitude.

  • Respect to the climbers. Bit of a cheeky win by Contador there! He looked rather too pleased with himself after having trailed Rasmussen all the way to the top there.

you've gotta feel for Vino though - what a shitty week he's had...

  • He didn't trail Ras all the way to the top (only final 2k when Ras jumped). They were working together and then Ras appears to have not agreed with the idea of being towed up if Contador was allowed the stage. Cont knows Ras needs the time so it was inevitable he was going to sit on his wheel and take the sprint. I don't like Ras the more I see him. Maybe I'm skinnyist but he's a greedy bugger. Evans looked frickin' shelled! Poor bastard. Another two days of this.. sweet! Some sore legs tonight!! Anyone but the chicken-man..

  • yeah, I concur with the antipodean fellow.
rasmussen is a horrible little turkey.

Soler all the way! unorthodox gets my support

  • I know - I was only referring to the last bit. They worked pretty well together most of the way up, and tactically, Contador did the right thing.

  • That looked so brutal, but so incredible. The field were just obliterated.

  • I cannot believe they sprinted up the end of that mountain.

  • Actually, I was wondering if they set up the bikes differently for mountain stages. I'm sure they would have different gearing, but perhaps some would choose lighter but less aero rims on a mountain day. I'd guess that you'd gain more on the ascent than you'd lose on the descent.

  • They usually stick on a cassette with a 26 or 28 or something, instead of the usual 21/23 max. And yeah, they'll stick on the climbing wheels (and probably bung some lead weights in their bar-ends or something, to keep it all UCI legal...)

"I'd guess that you'd gain more on the ascent than you'd lose on the descent." - Don't say that to anyone Australian ;-)

  • hehe.. yeah if you take a look at a lot of the 'pure climber's' front wheels they are now using shallow box-section jobbies rather than the deep carbon aero ones.
They also tend to throw on aluminium front rims instead of carbon to help the braking on descents. Good to see Vino get that stage. I still want Evans to win but anyone as long as it ain't chickenman!

  • BringMeMyFix ... probably bung some lead weights in their bar-ends or something, to keep it all UCI legal...)

While watching a mini Chriss hoy documentary they said something about putting ice in the tubes for the weigh in which of course melts leaving the bike lighter. Do you think this is true or a joke?

  • hahaha.. i mean.. of course!

  • ok ok, well it could be possible

  • Sounds a bit Brass Eye to me.

I'm not sure all that water sloshing around would make for a great ride.

    erm... the water?
i suspect it might weigh the same as the ice, but will have less volume so will reduce the air pressure.

I am well awear of this but a bike frame is not air tight

A drain hole would solve this easily.

I except that this is prob a joke however these reasons are ones which would stop this.

  • oh, in the frame tubes - silly me.
well in that case it would work. you'd have to cram quite a lot of ice there to make much of a difference though!

  • Ah right I understand your drop in pressure now.

Yeah thats one of things I though would be most against it but I suppose a few grams is a few grams. It must be a jike though other wiseit would look like every pro rider is pissing themself forthe first few miles of every race.

  • TheBrick(Tommy) every pro rider is pissing themself forthe first few miles of every race.

It's a rite of passage that every bike racer needs to go through.

And from experience, don't try having a 'mobile' pee whilst riding fixed, unless you subscribe to the supermodels-dab-piss-on-their-faces-to-keep-their-skin-looking-young school of cosmetics.

  • hahaha

  • Just piss in your shorts like the pros.. then wash it off with a bidon of water.
What? You thought that they drank all the water they picked up? No no no :)

  • The bidons handed out to the peleton are full of breakaway riders' piss. It's an elaborate drug transaction.

  • Fscking Vino.. was he expecting not to be tested??
