I ran over a cat once, when I tried to swerve around the front of it, lesson for avoiding cat in the road, aim for the rear of it. (the cat was ok as far as I know, it shot off before I'd got up off the road)

  • The dog looks really happy with it's self. Maybe it was working for another team. It also seems to cross back accross the road clearly decis=ded it did not like that side.

  • haaa, you obviously missed the part when the dog jumps out of the side of a csc car.......

  • labradors are always happy, mind you, got to be happy with the damage it does to that wheel (photo 3)

  • I hit a dog once, in a pretty similar fashion to that one. Stupid mutt. The guy that takes a dog to the TdF and lets it wander about without a lead needs a kicking.

Anyone see this the other day?

Cultural Learnings of Tour de France for Make Benefit Glorious team of Astana

  • That is hippy in his lycra.

  • Has that guy got shaved legs?

  • Yes but it's not me. I have darker tan lines.

I saw a guy do the same trick with the dog rolling around Hillingdon circuit before a TT. He was gonna deck the owner. Lucky he was only cruising and stayed upright.

  • the wheel as described on channel 4 coverage was " the new crumple-able wheels " why would you want a wheel that crumples or am i missing something
are they specially designed for crashing into dogs

  • yeah i thought it might have been a bit of c4 wit........i cant see why there would be such a thing

  • dicki the wheel as described on channel 4 coverage was " the new crumple-able wheels " why would you want a wheel that crumples or am i missing something

Designed for a very specific type of force. Rolling, a little lateral strength for sprinting, and nothing else whatsoever.

Hit anything with the wheel slightly twisted and you're applying forces to the wheel in ways that were simply never envisioned. And as they are as lightweight as can be, there's just no strength in the for what is essentially a side impact.

It's an expensive crash, but I think he got off very lightly thanks to the accidental crumple zone that wheel had.

  • Back to the stage:

was that not a great race or what? The pursuit match at the end, with all the various little tactical to-ing and fro-ing, topped off with all the main challengers giving it everything on that little hill just before the finish - great racing, great show.

  • True, but I get much more excited when there's a big bunch sprint.
It was close last night though which makes it cool to watch and I'm dreaming about some of those descents..
Cadel better make a fscking move. He's our only hope..
