He works/worked through Witcomb's store. I dropped off my GT there to get welded. Seemed like a nice enough bloke. I heard he was going out on his own. Not sure if this is true or not?

Sounds about right. His site is linked from Witcomb's, but his b+m is elsewhere.

his name is Paul, I believe he's registered here as kiwi1 in the members list
met him on saturday, when I went to pick up my frame from Witcomb's,
nice guy
don't know if he did any of the work on my bike, which did involve welding of track ends,
not sure how the relationship between Witcomb's / Kiwi cycles works
as he is in Witcomb's workshop, but there is link on their site to Kiwi cycles (which I only found later)
I guess you approach him directly to do the work, as opposed to going into Witcomb's shop -

yeah he is a nice guy from nz met him on a critical mass ride a few years ago does his own thing from home and works at witcomb lots of nice bikes on his site worth a look for an individual unique looking fixed gear

I've always found him patient and helpful + reasonably priced. Would recommend.
As far as i know he is a mechanic at witcomb who has a side project?
