• i thought that one way to make a mallet would be to lop the end off a golf club and then attach a bolt to the end of the shaft which would poke through the plastic tubing with a nut on the other side to hold it in place. will a chemical welding product like jb weld hold the nut in place given the rough treatment that mallets take?

anyone used these products and have any experience that could help?

  • not me but i'm looking for someone to help me make a mallet and don't have a clue, cannot even be bothered to go to the shop to get a hacksaw

  • haaa...you've found the right guy!.... Aidan "wasp" Earl the future in mallet technology

dont know anything about chemical welding tho:)

to get away from chemical welding, just drill a hole through the shaft of the golf club and the main bolt running through and put another bolt through that. almost like a '+'. that should hold it in place and will prevent any problems caused by the weld not being able to take the force.

  • nice diagram:)
i considered that but thought i would weaken the metal shaft

  • it shouldn't weaken it as long as you don't make a massive hole. plus, if the bolt you're putting through the top is snug enough, it should act as a support. personally, i'd stay away from chemical welding...especially if the pole is aluminium.

  • umm the bolt would have to be propper snug

  • not proper proper, just proper. 0.5mm will be fine.
