  • Not the snug fitting swimming attire that all true alpha males wear, but more the cycle computer variety.

When I got my Pista I decided not to move my computer over from my road bike. It just didn't seem to go too well with the simple lines and looks of the fixed wheel.

But, now as my legs have learnt to spin ever faster I am eager to know just how fast I can go and what my top cadence is.

What do you all reckon? Are speedo's fair game or should I learn to count leg revolutions using some form of spectroscopic blinking technique?

In actual fact, as I write this I am realising how silly this sounds. Am I just a bloody fashion victim?

  • Sounds like you are being a bit of a fashion victim!

I bought one, rode with it for a while and got an idea of speeds. Thing is that after a while I never looked at it and it was just another thing to worry about someone nicking, so i took it off. Now I have three speeds, slower than normal, normal and faster than normal.

  • Yeah, I have three speeds - going-to-the-pub speed, going-home-from-the-pub speed, and i-spent-too-long-in-the-pub-yesterday speed.

  • in traffic I am into the ZEN way of going with the flow I niether want nor care to know how fast I am going just so long as it is faster than you and for that I need to keep my eyes on the road BUT I am building a road track bike for sole reason of fast training rides at the Hippodrome d'Auteil now then as I go around the track working on my technique then I might fit one up just so that I know

  • ive just got a speedo of my other bike,im going to put it on claud for a bit, mainly to see how many miles i do..

  • Do what I do.. fit new mounting harness for 6yo speedo.. and then proceed to lose speedo on very first use!
I like 'em but I've not been using one for a while now. I use a HRM on my road bike and that tells me distance. I can work out speed using d/t etc.
I want another one though. I really would like to know how far I ride sometimes and if other people aren't there with speedos I have no idea.
I had an Enduro2 and I wonder if the Enduro8 would fit the same mount? Or that cheap, little black Cateye unit..

  • Dredging instead of starting anew...

Anyone know if any stand alone, non gps computers that use hub mounted magnetless sensors other than the Btwin one?

Ability to measure cadence and hold settings for multiple wheel sizes a bonus but not essential.
