Bar tape poll - vote now :)

Well after losing my handlebars completely a couple of times at the weekend I've decided it's time to abandon my lean aesthetics and put some tape on my bars. So here's your chance to design my bike for me... Vote for the colour and I'll put it on.

Current contenders: black / grey / white / red / yellow / pink / blue ...

You got pictures of your bike so we can see what works? Otherwise I vote pink everytime esp if its neon.

Also, colours other than black really show up grease, grime, etc.. especially when you have to mend a chain and get greased up and then have to continue riding without washing your hands.

yeah, go black if its a daily rider. something crazy if its a showy sunday ride.

Match the tape to the brand decals of the frame. I've a black condor italia with silver lettering now with matching bar tape and silver/grey bontangers and its the bees knees.

I have white on the Bob Jackson, it's filthy after barely a month.

I had white with reflective stuff before, it was filthy after the first ride in the rain.

Both of those are Cinelli.

On my Serotta I have black Deda tape, it still looks almost new a year later.

Go for black unless doing so ruins the aesthetics of the bike.

I'm a fan of Brooks leather bar tape. It comes in honey brown, dark brown or black. I have it on my geared bike - it's longlasting, and it wears and fades in a nice organic way. Not cheap though.

Black bike = white tape
White bike = white tape
red bike (which everyone knows is fastest) = white tape
blue bike = white tape
pink bike = white tape
green bike, well, only roadsters and shoppers are green.
purple bike = a f***ing smelly hippy.

Another vote for Brooks tape here - it's dead comfy and very had wearing, which is good as I have a strange habit of utterly destroying bar tape.

Have just been thinking about doing this myself after riding bare bars to Southend in the rain on Sunday.

Yeah I want some of those black n white star grips too. There is a chap on broadway market who does them for 10 quid. Cheapest I have seen them. Where did u find them slamm?
