mtb's are cool, riding a mtb fast and smooth on a bit of singletrack is not easy but very satisfying when you get it all dialled.
i was dissmissive of road bikes once but i opened my mind (and wallet) :-) -

MrSmith ...is not easy but very satisfying when you get it all dialled... once but i opened my mind ... :-)
At first I thought you were talking about anal sex.
Then I reread.

There was a cracking thread on fgg about this, let me find it....

Ok, so it seems like this is a cool enough idea with everyone. I think we should have a competition to get one design - I'm pretty sure we could get all of it done within the community - design, print, laminate and distribute.
I like the idea that we could all be carrying around these little cards and we give knowing glances at each other on the street when we see our London FG/SS spoke cards - yet not know who we are :-)
Who thinks a competition is a good idea? If we agree then I'll get on to velocity boy and we'll organise a sticky and some rules and a time limit :-)
Cool!

here's my first attempt :-P
As seen on velocity boy's Bob Jackson at Good Friday Track Meet at HH.

I've still got a load of the original ones Slamm made up
I always carry some in my bag, but don't see fixed bikes tied up round here very often.
my bike's not cool enough for spokecards
but that might change soon :)

I'm not using any of the spoke cards I got in alleycats - feels too much like a wannabe courier..
maybe on my polo bike when I get it together.I'll give a go at a design though. After all it's my job!

I really like slamms!
-
• #18
I like Slamms too - but i feel we should open it up to all as there seems to be a lot of designers on here
-
• #19

i think this is a great idea jonaent, especialy if we see each other on the street.no longer will us fakengers hang our heads in shame and no longer will we be inferior to the gods of the road....we shall unite!!!!!
-
• #22
hmmmm ......"fakies on fixes"
-
• #23
Fixed. Innit.

Sounds like fun.
We did a spokecard 'exchange' on BF where each person makes and laminates a card and sends to a central person who then distributes a random card to everyone that made one.But one design would be more clique-y and we love that so....yeh.

Double-sided would be awesome.
I saw one spoke card on bf ages ago that said "Steal my bike and I'll fuck you up the arse", and on the other side a photo of anal sex. Pretty disgusting and funny at the same time. Especially as when someone said it wouldn't stop them stealing his bike, he laughed and said, "well then I'll fuck you up the arse".
Made me laugh.
Probably not appropriate.
But double-sided would be awesome.
I remember a thread a while ago that taked about spoke cards....something along the lines of carrying them around and attaching them to the rear wheels of fixies as and when we see them in the street....
That's a cool, partially stupid idea that I think might just be fun - we should have a competition to design it as we all seem to be designers don't we ;-) A6? Laminated? I'm sure between us we can work out a cheap enough option and all donate a little...
