what we really need is a forum like that for London riders

There's really four fixed gear forums:
San Francisco, New York, Chicago and LA.I'd say in that order too.
I hope London will very soon be the fifth. Just because it will give us all even more socialising, blasting around, and having a great time.
There are other forums, but it's about vibe, influence, mayhem. Large cities with a unique style really do the fixed gear thing in their own way. I have a feeling we're all a bit more reserved about the wild fashion, and are likely just to get drunk and ride ;)
Strangely, I happen to host the Chicago forum. These forums aren't entirely free things, but thankfully I happen to have chunks of server hardware laying around with enough spare capacity to run these things without noticing.
As for which is best? I loved the Chicago one, but London is where I am and my home, and the thing that makes these way better than bikeforums, or whatever... is simply that the stuff in them is local.
They're all linked to from the links page, or from this:
http://www.fixedgearforums.com/I run that too.

It would be nice if all these forums were linked and we could check out and post on the other cities' sites. Get a bit of cultural exchange going! Or maybe that would just be a headache (for the webmaster at least).

Tell me how you think this might work and I'll speak to the others... I know several of the guys as well as Greg over at velospace, and I also host the chifg.com forum. I'm also a programmer, so if it's a technical solution I can help.
The question would be... what would this linked-up set of local forums look like?
The way we're not BikeForums.net or even the Cycling Plus forums is that we're a place and a style of bike... London and Fixed or Single-speed... a lot about what makes this forum cool is the London part, but you're right in that there's a lot of similarity between forums, and certainly people who travel between these cities and create friendships that span the forums.
Anyhow, what do you have in mind?

I think this site is beginning to take on a feel of its own... which is only a good thing.
So far I think it has brought together lots of riders, and it's great to read about the local london based events and styles...
I went to San Francisco for a while last september, they have a great style of riding, but it's different cause the cities different.

We were talking about it last weekend during the Gary Glitter Fucksskids and decided that the slogan for London really is:
"Tricks?! Nah fuckit, where's the pub" -
• #14
heh.
damn right.I did freestyle* on a bmx 20 odd years ago, why the fuck would I want to piss around like that on a road bike when I'm 35 ?
especially if the pub's open.*so very, very badly.

31trum things hurt more when your in you late 30's
tell me about it!
even getting up in the morning hurts, being awake hurts, yep, pretty much constant pain.
there's also the fear factor...I'm not a shitter by nature, but stacked once at the skatepark in the wet, only cuts and bruises but I never felt right riding it after that

Maybe a seperate subforum or category in which you could cross post to the various other sub forums of the other sites, prehpse with options of which forums you which to cross post to. i.e If you where making a trip through california you would only want to post to L.A and S.F.
