There's a guy where I work who seems to use nothing but two naff helmet lights. When its dark and he turns his head sideways he virtually disappears as the lights are no longer visible.
IMO there fine for off-road but for on road I prefer my main and supplementary light on the bars. If one's flashing I think they're hard to miss.
