^^Jesus wept, 49-15 is massive, even too big for flat old Norwich I'd say.

Won't be long before your knees hate you with gearing like that.

Indeed, that's about 87GI!

I actually do use it on the track when I am home for the summer, just been too lazy to change it over the winter! It's fine for the most part, as long as I don't get caught out by the traffic lights by the ITV building!

Boosh works at the crop shop. He is a good guy. He seriously pushes hard gears and fucking lives for it. He is tall though...

It's great when it gets going, it's just the first few revs of the pedals where it feels like you are sprinting in slow motion!

I rode 52x17 for a while and didn't mind it at all, apart from the first few revs as you pointed out.

That's an interesting theory colr, I like it. I'm 75.5 inches tall (6'3.5") and currently ride 48x17 on 28c tyres, which works out as.....75.3 gear inches. Coincidence, I think not!

it very much depends on where you are riding and how far you ride. i found 48 15 fine for bombing about the city on but the first decent ride i went on it hurt a lot. i now ride 48,19 which is fairly spinny but also very comfy for decent length rides.

True. I find my current gearing ideal for the majority of places, but it's a little disappointing knowing I can't realistically break 30mph without spinning like a mad man.
-
• #1039
^^^ I'm riding the same gearing as you, on the same tyres and I'm 5 11 which is 61.31 in inches and screws that theory over completely. (And I often do 48x16 for longer rides as well).

Don't get me wrong, I think most theories based on one particular physical attribute are bound to be conjecture to some degree (like the 109% saddle height) I just found it interesting that this one worked out almost exactly right in my case.

Very tall? Like 6 foot three, black hair in a curtain? Usually works next to Nick and Magdalena, the Polish girl?

Anyone riding through Acle fixed this morning at about 9.30 am? Didn't catch the bike type as the sun was in my eyes but nods were exchanged.
-
• #1043
I was at that time but not near Acle. I did 52 miles to Mundsley and back via Buxton. Fixed for a change, as my wear wheel exploded on Friday :-).
Glorious day to be out wasn't it.

Lovely.
Only had time for 38 miles (SS). Did see a lot of cyclists (unsurprisingly). Best day of the year so far.

I saw an Iceni bunch out, but nobody else - I only did a few miles round some back lanes, but still thought it'd be heaving.

An incredible Dave Davey track bike in the Dandy today. Originally yellow, but now with a health dose of ratty patina, with a nice lot of understated parts. Chatted to the owner for a bit, who was a lovely guy and admitted he was a lurker on here, but failed to ask his name! Either way, it's a great addition to the Norwich 'stable'.

I might be going mad after todays ride but I swear I saw someone riding a seafoam/celeste fixed gear coming out of UEA earlier today? looked a bit like a bianchi super pista but I was too far away to get a proper look

Guy with a Purple BMW Gangsta looking bike with track drops on the Avenues at about 12, any idea what the bike is?
It's a subrosa frame with some add ons

Lovely shiny red/white frame with silver rims, mavic bullhorns and studded saddle. Parked outside Hideout right now.. I'm taking photos and my lo pro is locked next to it aha.
The orange Holdsworth is Boosh's on here.
