Even though I keep my bike outside but completely under cover, never sees a drop of rain whilst locked up, the springs on my M540 SPDs have rusted causing the right one to become very stiff and difficult to unclip from. Struggled a couple of times yesterday to get out of them but had the inevitable when coming up to a junction, car stopped in front of me and was about to go around, filter through the gap when another cyclist pushed in front and stopped. I stopped suddenly, twisted my foot to get out and couldn't unclip. Carried on struggling to get my foot out all the way to the ground. Only unclipped when the bike was on top of me. Very unpleasant.
