Right,
The cement has had long enough, so I've just been for a little ride. There's a dead-end near mine that's quiet and reasonably smooth that I decided to pootle up and down. I was feeling a bit precious about the tyres, but I wanted to have a go. They say they can hold 220psi.
220?! What does that feel like? I doubt I need them that hard but let's give it a try.
I thought I might swop to the 15t, but decided, neah, let's leave it at 96'' and see how quickly I can get it up to speed.
Well, the answer is very quickly; as in just a few pedal revs. Amazing.
And the ride at that pressure doesn't feel hard somehow, it just feels tight.
One thing I really like about a well maintained ss/fg is how very quiet they can be. This is quite noisy. Maybe there isn't enough lube on the chain, but I think it's also something to do with how the whole bike is really quite rigid and it sort of resonates...or something. And there is quite a bit of chain suck, that should pass once the bits bed into each other. Anyway it feels great. I didn't want to get properly spinning with no brakes or lights, but now I'm itching to get it up to full speed on the track.
Negative point; I was on it for about ten minutes and I got this:
