just went from over a year on the nexus 4 to the nexus 5 yesterday. it's the same or better in all the ways you expect. The biggest differences for me are hardware quality and the "feel" (screen and build), battery life and getting LTE speeds. The phone is faster too.
Nexus 4 is a nice phone, but the 5 is definitely much nicer. All that said, a functional Nexus 4 is perfectly fine and not worth replacing.
