  • I'm still not sure of the benefit of telling road.cc, is it just a bigger forum?
There's a video on the other thread but it's not well edited.
Tbh, I don't really want to revisit it as it'll just make me angry again and won't change the outcome really.

  • Not the forum, but the news, bit like Cycling Weekly.

  • Green means go, amber means go, red means go unless it's been red for more than a few seconds.

its almost like your from manchester

  • Sirens and Lights are not direction from plod to RLJ. If one is in front of you, waving or telling you to go through, that would be instruction.

MET are are trained that RED means stop, AMBER means stop unless that would be unsafe, GREEN means your right of way. Accelerating to go through on AMBER before the RED = ticket.

  • Accelerating to go through on AMBER before the RED = ticket.

    When you catch them.

  • ^^ This.

Blue lights do not mean instruction as of themselves but nor do they have to be in front of you waving. As I understand it, just need a uniformed officer giving instructions, can be from within their squad car.

  • Not strictly. The verdict of the hearing was based on the idea that the officer didn't put on his sirens and blues [bullshit] and that I ran the light of my own accord.
They took the officer's word over my footage so it was never shown whether it is legal or not to go through a red when directed to do so by an officer.
In future I will be as conservative as possible and not.

What a motherfucker. I didn't pick that up on the other thread!

Interesting though, I've rolled over the stop line plenty of times getting out of the way of a siren. So criminal.

  • Yeah. Total lack of integrity from the officer.

    You badass.

  • You badass.

I'm secretly really worried I'll get arrested for confessing online.

    :'(

I do wonder why police don't hang around at certain junctions just ticketing all the cars that do this. I can name 3 or 4 junctions off the top of my head where you'd get 4 or 5 cars every light phase.

  • It happens at all junctions. It's almost as if the police don't care about running ambers.

  • I'm secretly really worried I'll get arrested for confessing online.

Is se1derful your real name? Cos you're knicked if it is.

  • The ones I'm thinking of, the first couple run ambers and the rest are running reds.

  • Is se1derful your real name? Cos you're knicked if it is.

Knicked for knicking? Take him down the knick.

  • It happens at all junctions. It's almost as if the police don't care about running ambers.

They don't care about running reds either!

  • The one at the end of my street has 3 amber gamblers per go and a blatant red runner every 3 gos.

  • Surely it's fairly obvious to everyone that jumping red lights is dangerous, even if you think there are no cars within a file mile radius does not mean that there aren't you can never be too careful. Although laws are often dumb, there is usually a reason or logic behind them and I think that everyone can agree that cars running red lights is a definite no no, so double standards should not be applied. I appreciate that when a cyclists runs a red light he's pretty much always risking his life rather than other peoples but you are effecting other people. If a guy hits you and kills you he could regardless of whether he was driving safely be convicted and put in prison which would suck big donkey balls. So no don't do it.

  • Thanks for clearing that up. Any thoughts on helmets?

  • How about commas? How do you feel about them?

  • Or paragraph spaces?

  • So no don't do it.

    Red lights. Blow my mind.

  • The more I see, the more I jump*

    *not

  • also affect vs effect

where is Oliver when you need him...

  • Red lights are for conformists. Fixed/Singlespeed used to be mainly a population of uber cool alternative types and dirty messengers. Now that the numbers have swelled by the voting classes adopting this method of transportation, rule obeying among FGSSers has increased.

This is a situation which must be halted before it goes too far (think of the children etc).

It is your moral duty as a rider of a fixed drive-chain bicycle to blast as many red lights as possible (SSers not so much as you are clearly FG wannabes so are probably lacking in courage).

    Red light = GO!
