How are they getting the stats for individuals? Or is it reliant on team stats being shared/split?

Yes, it's your teams stats. So over a large number of tournaments with a variety of teams it should be fairly accurate.

Need a visualisation of GF vs GA. Heatmap?

Also, GD vs "arbitrary team value metric" to express whether a player/team underperforms in mid-table scraps whilst exceeding expectations against higher-ranked, organised teams. #vanitystatistic #sorepoint

And stats should be adjusted for beers consumed and sweet looking goals.

That effect can be inferred by the audience.
