Always wanted a 1 1/8" modern steel frame, like the Dodici in size, but with a horizontal toptube i.e. longer headtube. Cue a 66cm Zona Goldsprint...
I wonder if a 'shared' build will work. Could have a GXP bb and headset/forks in both frames as well as a chain installed and therefore will take about 5/10 minutes to swap stem/bars, seatpost/saddle, wheels and cranks between the two.

That goldsprint has dos-esqe front end, needs woundup tracks... Fo sho.

the forks are lush though

I'm saying.... no.

@malaysianz maybe, maybe not. its natural you'd promote them, you have them on 2 bikes ;) but I'm not convinced by their looks (and price). + what rogan said.
I'm saying.... no.
but why?
I only need 1 fixeh (+ the plum, but that's a love affair), so why not swap between the two?
Can't sell the Dodici, I'll never find another like it, likewise for the plum.
Yes, I realise that this logic seems like me stockpiling all the 64cm+ frames, but that's not my aim, promise!

Yeah, but...

put a 32c on the front , itll be fine
-
• #89334
but why?
I know what you mean. I'm just saying no because I reckon I've tried that sort of thing in the past (not exactly the same, but some shared components/ requirements to partially rebuild for different uses) and it was a massive pain.
My conclusion was that there is a lot of value in a build. I reckon there are parallels to the reason that often, as bike appreciators, we 'get a build rolling' using parts bin bits.
TL;DR - build it up with cheap stuff so it rolls. And switch nice parts between bikes if you can really be bothered.

TM you're confusing this bike for a tight track bike....This frame is drilled front and rear, and like rogan said, can clear 32s (I think). It also has quite lazy, planted geo, 73.5deg HT
I have tight clearances and steep angles elsewhere

Is that an On-One chainset?
Dibs if so!
-
• #89337
So you building it like a gangsta? Canti braze ons for a front v brake? Or even a disc? Could be awesome.
-
• #89338
Tommmmm, you need an on one chainset or are you being silly?
I have one surplus to requirements./spam

Is omniums.

You realise you're saying: I only need one fixed, apart from I actually need two, and in reality the truth is I need three?
Anyway it sounds like the 'sprint will take fat tyres, so voila - build it up differently to your other bikes and it will find it's place in the stable.

Shared parts works for me (everything is easy when it comes down to FGSSintergalaxation).

haha... #firstworldproblems right?
having said that, something's gotta go. I suspect it will be one of the fixed bikes. Maybe even the goldsprint, who knows!
To be perfectly honest, it will probably be the Plum (64x57 - crazy, right?). Having spent more time on the Somec (65x61) it feels small in the toptube.
having said that, it's still a pleasure to ride, and it's nice to have a 'classic' fixed ride. if needs be, it will go.
-
• #89343
Why not ride the Plum 'till it breaks then retrieve the Goldsprint from the cupboard?
-
• #89344
Yeah, but...
Unslam rear wheel, equalise gappage. De-Dosing on the cheap.

Build it as a winter bike, since it got big clearance, fit full mudguard, front brake and 25mm tyres (or 28 if you can).
Then sell the Dodici.

28s fit with enough room for crud racers....
-
• #89347
Nice. Is it just the picture or are those cranks reeeaally long?
-
• #89348
Possibly a small outer chainring as well.

I said full mudguard, not those fiddly narrow shit.

This could work in lilac... But I would prefer black or white. The yellow is best left understated and grey is just a weaker black ;-)
Well get a lilac bottle cage then. Needs balance. :)
