• as much as it pains me to part with this frameset after getting it through
customs and going through the trouble of getting it copper plated, it pains
me more to see it just hanging on the wall...

medium sized bruiser copper plated frame with standard bruiser forks.

the original colour of the forks is light grey, but i spray painted over
    it with matte black.

no dents, some small scratches on the forks, comes with fsa pig dh headset.

the forks have 35mm of steer tube protruding and with a spacer i was
    running a thomson 50mm 4x stem.

    located in berlin

    £290/€350 shipped to uk/eu
    €320 shipped to germany

and here's what it looked like built up fresh from the electroplating:

  • How much weight does that add?

  • Looks pretty sweet, just my 2p.

  • cop a look at that finish!

  • Very nice!

  • How much weight does that add?

    ...less than chrome plating...

  • can this run 26inch wheels?

  • can this run 26inch wheels?

of course, but it depends on tyre size as the rear chainstays are crimped for 700c.

  • can this run 26inch wheels?

    26 x 1.35 outer radius is about 315mm

60mm BB drop means you''ve have a BB height of 10 inches, which is CRAZY LOW for polo.

Assuming the geo chart is with a Bruiser S700 fork (400mm A-C, 32mm rake) and that this comes with that fork, you'll have about 55mm of trail which might be low enough to make up for the 400mm chainstays and (rough guestimate) 1000mm wheelbase.

    TL;DR:

Don't use a bruiser with 26" wheels unless you intend to run tyres so big they have a 700c-esque diameter.

Unless you have small feet and run short cranks, 26" is the way to go, whatever Luca, Chan and Beagle tell you. Get something cheaper, like a Hija De La Coneja or a custom Mielec.

  • Yeah that's what I thought, I play with 26X1.5

I was always under the impression Alu was not a good choice for polo. More buzz and less resistence to knocks and bumps.

Does anyone rock a alu from in polo. I might just spring for another melec if that's the case since it would allow custom geo at a pretty sweet price point.

    Apologies for the derail

  • Yes, lots of people: http://www.maxpowercycles.de/

  • It's not more prone to failure, it's just that it can fail without showing much in the way of warning signs.

Considering the relatively slow speeds and the fact we are all pretty good at falling, I don't think sudden failure is as dangerous as it is during road riding.

I had an alu frame that was awesome for polo... I did break it, but I've broken 5 steal frames too, and the alu lasted longer than most of the rest.

  • We've got 2 polo meilecs in Manchester, they seem to be holding up fine.

  • Be interested in the geo of those bike and if you were able to get any customisations such as axel nut protectors etc done. Cheers

  • Check the mke website, or if you mean the meilecs then there are some overly complicated drawings hiding in the polo bike thread.

  • hahaa..how did my post on a for sale copper plated steel frame end up about aluminium frames...?

    ...price drop.

  • any reasonable offers?

just look at that sweeeeet copper plating....mmmm. ages so well...
