I'd go for:

Given how many people do charity rides I really would not expect a bike at cost for this.

Hire one from Tri and Run? Or tell her to do it on a Boris bike, she'll raise LOADS more.

Might be worth a ask at a LBS ?

What DJ says
Grab something via eBay as no point in spending loads on a new bike if not going to get ridden again -

cycle to work scheme?
If you dont have one.. now is the time to suggest it to the 'boss' -

Why would a bike shop sell a bike, whilst making no profit, just because someone is riding to raise money? Especially London to Paris - pretty standard stuff...

Costs them nothing to do , could give them good rep' , if not it's fine but always worth a ask

Not for a small charity ride such as London to Paris, no way.
If it's a big epic one that put them in a good light, then they might think it's worthwhile.

Personally, just get a cheap Ridgeback Motion, they're reliable, does the job will take her to Paris.

Exactly, it costs them nothing, but it loses them money where they could otherwise make money on selling that bike.
So my boss just announced she is cycling to Paris from London and is looking to pick up a bike , any suggestions for her in terms of bike ?(doesn't normally ride and isn't looking to spend loads) and are any shops likely to help her out with a bike at cost ? If there's anyone who could do that on here that'd be great
