Yeh I've contacted her to see if she has any stock but no reply...

I haven't really thought about properly investing in decent gear/brake cable before, I just usually buy wilkinsons cheapies.
So is £50 for a full set of the alligator ilinks worth it? If they truly last a lot longer, and give noticably better shifting/braking performance then I would be interested.

It's not a necessity, standard Shimano set-up work perfectly well as it is.
It's more the installation that's important, cut cable cleanly, put grease on cable, ensure housing curved nicely without friction, etc.
Example - rear brake should feel as direct as the front brake (i.e. not spongy/grindy).

Yeah I use park tool cutters, and sand off the edges.
I generally don't have much bother with my cables unless the weather is real bad then the shifting can go a bit dodgy

I don't think I would generally recommend alligator for audax thought.

Why not?

personal opinion rather, corrosion come to mind though I have not heard of such case.
I'm going to install the alligator on the fixed bike soon, even though the current Shimano one is perfect as it is.

I have used Transfil Mudlovers, Gore, and Nokon cables with continuous liners. All have worked really well and given good braking or shifting.
The continuous liners really help stop shit getting into the cabling system. My i-links arrived today and hope to install at the weekend.

Snap! As I didn't set it up in the first place, I have a question. Can you easily reattach the clamp to the inner cable? Or will be too short and fiddly? do I need to buy two new ones?
I made some slight tweaks to my contact points, stopped a bit of mudguard rattling and put the rear rack back on the other day. The bike feels so dialled in, iI can't wait to try the compressionless!

Not installed mine yet.
I'd use new inner cables, rather than risk a dirty old frayed cable damaging the liner.

Sound logic

Inner cable is probably cheaper and easier to source than the liner.

Still haven't fitted the cable and the TRP HY/RD's are back in stock....hmmmm

I'm not going from hydro to cable
-
• #367
You would be going from hydro and cable to just cable.
Don't fight it.
-
• #368
nah, TBH i'm happy with the hope, its just the junction box that annoys me slightly
-
• #369
Yeah, it's pretty ugly... And heavy...

Alligator i-link works fine. I have been amazed by how smoothly it operates, even in case of "sharp" bends (cabling under the tape for example).

Sptr
I links were a piece of piss to install.

I don't know man, having both brakes (admittedly MTB hydro), the cable pull disc on the old CX bike was great to the point that there's no reason to go hydro.
The Spyres steal the deal even further.
Plus, you can always sell it to amey.
