  • John thought I should join this thread. So here I am.

I read the last few pages of this and in general we're all coming to the same conclusions.

The reason we left out the crease was because of the additional court marking people would need to add at their pickup spots (potential issues surrounding use of public space, etc). We couldn't agree how big to make it. (4' seemed too small, 10' seemed too large).

    My opinion:

    1. Ban all moving screens, regardless of contact. This is in the same vein as interference in hockey, football, basketball, etc.
    2. Add an 8' diameter crease, full semi-circle, that only 1 defensive player can remain stationary in for any amount of time.

This is admittedly a drastic change to the game, through legislation. It would force offensive strategies that focus on ball movement, positioning, forechecking and territory protection. It would force defensive strategies that focus on skillful man marking, positioning, backchecking and heads-up transition play.

But I'm really bad at bike polo.
