or a much, much larger goal (putting the onus on the defending team to get the ball and the retaining team to keep the ball as goals would be much more common... think basketball or water polo where every attack should ideally result in a goal).
I thought about that too, having a lot more goals scored : bigger goal, or smaller one with a crease where players are banned (no "goalie") etc... and see this game more like a game where the intense challenge is breaking the opponent attack.
It's all about the value you attach to scoring i guess.
At the moment we put a lot of value into scoring:
scoring is hard (bike(s) and mallet cover a lot of surface).
scoring count double: not only you +1 the opponent but you are also closer to the score limit.
I guess if you remove the tension from being scored, you remove the frustration, the turtling and therefore the "fucked them up", etc...
Although i don't know if it could make the game more strategic (tactic?) and less boring?
