was flushing the steam from the boiler after making a (perfect) coffee this morning and all of a sudden I got a massive gush of water from where the seal is around the grouphead. looks like no more coffee until I figure out how that happened (hopefully just needs re-fitting, those gaskets are pricey!)

I think xDOMx has, saw it on his Instagram. Saw it on someone's Instagram anyway.
I guess you just ask for some boiling water.
Damn good idea.
You're quite right. Mile High Aeropress Club!
Should be no issue at all. I was apprehensive about the hand grinder and brew scales but it was all fine.
By the way, I work at MacIntyre Coffee on Hoxton Street every Saturday. If you'd like to come down for a coffee that'd be great.
Conceptually interesting as a store and also, I'd like to think, good coffee.

Anyone taken an Aeropress, grinder and coffee on a plane before? As in, with your carry on luggage?
Yep - and it was fine.
Edit: actually I took a handpresso which if anything looks more sinister on the bag sacnner's monitor than the 'press I bet.

Wait, you used your hand grinder, brew scales and aeropress on a plane?! I'm in awe of your dedication to good coffee. -

Where to buy a nice cappuccino / flat white / whatever cup from then? Had a look on happy donkey and made by knock and there was nothing. Quite like the LMNH ones but they seem very pricey (£15).

^Good shout. I've got the notneutral cappucino set - would recommend.

So excited about my Mick McCarthy Monday Masterclass.*
- No macchiatos will be harmed in the making of fine coffee, unfortunately.

You know there's that link to Aluminium and dementia? Is this TRUFAX? Do not want dementia. But do want awesome coffee. Anyone able to shed some light on this?
The Alzheimer's Society says:"Aluminium – Very low levels of many metals are present in the brain. Aluminium is a toxic metal that is common in our everyday environment. Small amounts of it are found in water and food. Although initial studies linked aluminium toxicity with Alzheimer's disease, the link has not been proven despite continuing investigation. Importantly, there is no evidence to suggest that aluminium exposure increases your risk of dementia."
When I was a kid we used to eat out of and play with aluminium pots and pans all the time. And look, I'm fine!
Look I'm fine!

i find the notneutral cups (same as the rapha ones btw) tend to spill really easily where the handle curves over.
alternatively I like these...
Perfect Cappuccino 4 Two Gift Set (2 x Como 7oz/200ml cup & saucers): Amazon.co.uk: Kitchen & Home
I have one not neutral and one of those 'como' cups from ronde cycle cafe in edinburgh that i got while on holiday and the ronde/como cup is the one I always use if I'm making a drink for just myself.

Caravan have started selling the acme cups and saucers, but I have no idea why the price is like. They come in a multitude of colours too, as far as I'm aware.

I'm looking to sell this Gaggia Classic as I have four machines in the flat, and I need to reduce this number to one.

This is a pre-Philips model (with superior 3-way solenoid) and has had the OPV adjusted to 9 Bar. Finish is chrome, and there is some surface corrosion under the drip tray, but nothing much to worry about. Includes portafilter with double and single baskets. It's an older machine, but I have descaled it, and just poured a decent shot from it.
Is £70 a decent enough price for any beginners?
Collection only on Hackney Road. Bus stop outside 55/26/48 and not far from Bethnal Green and Old Street tube.
£65 for anyone? I would have bitten someone's hand off for this back when I was looking for one.

That's cool then.
Yeah, as long as it has been off the burner for a few minutes and it is no longer full of hot coffee/water.

Cheers for heads up. Might give those a go having just smashed a mug last weekend....

Central where? This is London my friend.

Can anyone recommend a good coffee shop in the Durham area?

Any recommendations for brew bars near central?
Tapped & Packed offer three different filters on a dedicated brew bar, roasted themselves. I'd say the Wardour St branch is a better bet.
Workshop or Prufrock are consistently amazing if they're close enough to where you're thinking. -

Have you looked on the coffee tube map?

Alchemy near Blackfriars is also fantastic.
