  • I'm trying to convert a pompino front brake to a disc brake with the idea that my winter commuter has nice stopping power even in the wet. A few of you have done this before and I've been reading through this forum to get ideas. I'm new to this and have a few gaps in my knowledge that hopefully someone could help with?

This is the general idea. Replace front fork with Pompetamine fork (already ordered). Use Avid BB7 road disc brake (160mm). This wheel. Hopefully that all sounds pretty standard?

The handlebars are 'Deda Crono Nero bullhorn bars' (pictured below). I'm not sure which brake levers to buy though. Tektro RL520 look good but I'm not sure if they'll fit or be comfortable to pull if they do. I think I could keep the bar end brakes pictured but I've been warned that bar end brakes can snap brake cables. Has anyone any experience of this or any suggestions?
