Friend of mine is looking to get a bike to start riding again and getting about town.
Looking for something reasonably pleasant, low maintenance so either ss or simple gearing, steel and not flashy so he won't worry about it being nicked too much.
As he hasn't ridden in a while preferably something with risers or flats rather than drops.
Was thinking of building him something, but be good to save the hassle
EDIT: Been getting a lot of PMs, sorry can't reply to all but should add some details to get the right thing. Have spoken to friend again and he's not keen on the bright colours, deep rim fashion fixie type bike - something simple and classic is more his style. Also, something that can take mudguards - especially proper full mudguards - would be much more desirable.
Also need to emphasise this is a single speed he's after, with front and rear brake. Fixed gear bikes with front brake only aren't what he's after.
