    Facepalm at this whole conversation. Anyway. Machine. There isn't really a direct translation other than the technical term (that Dammit's posted) because (as Emyr suggests) it's not something that most of us have ever felt the need to describe in English. That's why you're not getting a straight answer. If you do definitely need a description in English then just use the technical term but bear in mind nobody will know what you mean without looking it up themselves.
