Mantle Mounted Rack

This might be useful to someone I built this to fit in the house I'm moving out , But it may fit someone else's needs

• 12mm ply sides , 18mm shelves (with lots of room for storage)
  
• 15mm ply arms (height adjustable 2 pins & M6 bolt as locking mechanism)
  
• Adjustable top plate(2 M6 bolts) to tension the rack between the mantle and the ceiling
  
• max handlebar width 540mm
  
• Drawing attached with sizes
  
• Rack could do with a coat of varnish or danish oil
  
  

After assembling I realised I hadn't allowed for the top skirting so I had to make afew adjustments with limited tools , this is not visible when it is in situ.

*XXL [U]Double bike rack*[/U]

This is freestanding and doesn't require any fixings to the wall (if you have a wooden floor I can supply afew strips of rubber for the feet to make it safe) I am 80 kg and at one stage climbed it to prove a point.
It has such long legs to allow for the annoying wall mounted heater.

• 15mm ply frame

• The Frame breaks into two pieces(sizes detailed in dwg) and is joined with a jigsaw joint and supported with a polycarbonate plate and 4 bolts on each side
  
• Included is a small step unit with a shelf and tool tray (tools, locks , shoes not included) that I built to stand on when accessing the top bike
  
• Rack could do with a coat of varnish or danish oil
  
  

Once again I built this for a specific location but it may be suitable for somebody else?

What's the height of rack 1, from base to top? I'll need to check height of my living room when I get back in a little over a week, but could be interested

The height of the mantle mounted rack is 1800mm base to top . Smills7 do you want the polo straps I have received another pm but though I would give you 2nd dibs

Are the straps still going?

Height will probably work, can't commit until I've measured up at home - typical, saw your thread at t'airport!
