• I have a bianchi with a mishmash of shimano and campag I'm trying to shift everything to campag but haven't found a rear mech yet. Is the shimano mech compatible with veloce shifters

  • Yeah as long as they are for the same speed (or the shifter > mech). So a nine speed ergo can use a shimano/campag/any ones 9 or ten speed mechs.

  • My lbs says they aren't. I didn't think it would be an issue

  • The cable pull and the derailleurs shift ratio equals the distance moved by the derailleur cage across the cogs. This distance must equal the cog spacing. Campagnolo and Shimano use different ratios so Campagnolo and Shimano are not compatable unless you are using down tube friction shifters. You can 'bodge' a fix using a Jtek convertor to alter the cable pull and shift ratio.

  • Have a look through this - Shimergo.

Maybe your combination is compatible. Probably not though.

  • ^ this.

You might need an inline problem solver to sort out the cable pull.
