  • Still get orders from edinburgh and glasgow..

Have had orders from somewhere in Beds and other small places too recently..

  • Ooh, I like all the little scenes popping up. Do you direct them to here or anything?

  • What happened with the Farnborough plan?

  • Lots on my plate at the moment but looking at a 4 v 4 tourney feb / mar.

  • From LOBP:

Hello Europolo, we're official in! Here's our video proposal for EHBPC 2014 in Vicenza, Italy.
Vicenza Bike Polo was born in 2008, on 2011 became an official bikepolo association. We're 25 active players and tons of supporters.
The tournament will take place on the last weekend of June, from the 25th till the 29th.
We got 4 courts in two locations 1km from each other. Perfect concrete grippy surface.
Pomari's with 1,2m concrete walls; San Giuseppe's with 1,25m wooden fences.
Both locations with good lighting systems.
As you can see from the video, Pomari location has one court 40x20m and another 34x18m, these are Vicenza Bike Polo's new home courts.
We'd like this area to be the headquarter of the event, playing the finals and doing all the collateral polo activities.
San Giuseppe, with two courts 40x18m, will be the secondary area for rounds and the first part of the double elimination.
Playing in 4 courts, we'd like the Euros to be the most inclusive possible. Of course we'd like to invest a lot in collateral events, sponsorships, accomodations and italian goods.

  • Vincenza Euros 2014, Snoops MVP as long he he makes the flight.

  • Anyone going to this?! Im back in NL for a month and looking to play as much as i can.

  • It's Chinese New Year and I have planned a day out on Saturday sans polo.

Full day event, meals at your own expense, day starts at 11 am at Brick Lane and expected to end at 8pm.

Zero75Zero3274One75 is my number if you decide you wanna have a good day out with plenty of food and chat about culture.

Gong Hei, Gong Hei, Gong Hei Fatt Choi!

p/s: No black attire allowed, it's considered inauspicious ;)

  • That sounds pretty awesome. Ive never celebrated CNY.

I'll bell you around lunchtime and see where you are :)

  • Commitment < Chinesement

    Happy new year Beagle!

  • This is a blatantly off topic cross-post, but a couple of polo people asked me to let them know when I'm doing art projects locally and I didn't know where else to put it:

I currently have work in the Jerwood Open Forest exhibition at Jerwood Space, Union Street. Five projects were selected from open submission to research and develop proposals for artworks to be sited in Forestry Commission locations across England.

We're doing a talk on Monday with Joy Sleeman of Slade whose main field of research is land art. Book tickets if you fancy it.

  • Nice one, Iain. This is something I want to check out.

  • Was Joy the keyboard player?

  • gets pint glass and fork ready

  • Was Joy the keyboard player?

It does actually read like that, doesn't it? nobber.

  • :d

This sounds right up my street, i'll try to take a look tomorrow morning before polo.

  • This looks great, definitely will try and make it to the talk on Monday. I promise I'll sit at the back and stay quiet.

  • About the GQ article: I thought it was brilliantly structured and written, and I love the way it uses one team as a human and personal story, to draw the reader in, to get people interested in the sport. I think exposure is crucial, and I think we've only scrapped the surface of the potential of the sport. I can't wait until we have proper tourneys with cleanly-built courts (no more wooden boards with stenciled logos), on central squares in major cities, with spectator seating, live commentary, big screens for slow-mo replays, and a generally cleaner and sharper feel. I think the potential of these kinds of events is immense, as they'll draw more players, build more interest, and bring in more money. Hopefully one day the best players in the world can start earning money, and will spend more time playing and improving, as Emmet says. Hopefully one day the players who believed enough in the sport to invest and start companies (Milk, Magic, Northen Standard, Fixcraft etc..) will be rewarded and will be able to make a proper living.
I come from a background in skateboarding and snowboarding, and I still remember the days in the mid-80s when you'd speak to every snowboarder you'd see on the slopes (usually one or two a week!). today it's a billion-dollar industry, and it's had its ups and downs, with big corporations cashing in, but also with core riders running some of the strongest brands (Burton is a case study for any growing sport..).
I'd love bike polo to be big enough in Paris for me to be able to decide on any given night of the week to ride a few kms to one of the many courts around and play for a couple of hours with strangers and friends. Until then I've only got 2 weeknights and one day when I can play, which restricts my chances to practice.

  • ^ Sellout ;)

  • we've only scrapped the surface of the potential of the sport

Hey, don't give up on it all so quickly. :)

  • Peppermint Polo Cup 2 in Leipzig Germany, 29-31st May

I went to this one last year, it's a great tournament, roller hockey court, camping, BBQ, free food etc...

    I can really recommend it.

Germanwings and Ryanair fly there direct from London.

really? I thought the scene there was bigger? More akin to London's 6-day week

  • Do you even ever 6-day polo before? ;)
