Has anyone toured in Iceland?

No but I'd love to do that longboard ride that Ben Stiller does in Walter Mitty, if that helps.

Sputniks are great. But very heavy. They don't fit all frames, as they are pretty wide. I

Sputinks: I suppose I just tried to squeeze them into an inappropriately small clearance, width / brake wise.
I guess I was just hinting to gaz to be careful about clearance widths. I know what kind of bikes he likes, they tend to be old school steel handbuilt bike porn.

Isn't one of those rims notoriously hard to get tires on to?

What time of year did you go? Do many of the roads just turn from tarmaced to untarmaced?

I've had zero problems with Sputniks (35c tyres)

I went in September, pretty cold!
I stuck mainly to route 1, there was only 1 or 2 sections that were untarmaced about 20 miles long

My grandma likes suggesting places to tour, if something goes wrong with the bike in Iceland how hard would it be to get it fixed?

I find that getting tyres onto a set of Grizzly rims very tough - I am also not impressed with the rate a which the brake surface is wearing out - not sure what I would go with in their place...

FYI - Tyres were Panaracer Pasela and the Schwalbe marathon supreme, both folders.

Georgia, I only want something to keep my tent, sleeping bag and some soft item in.
It's a little too big thought.

Why no bikepacking?
Sputniks are great. But very heavy. They don't fit all frames, as they are pretty wide. I've yet to try Rigida grizzly, but I reckon that's a better choice for most applications unless the bikes going to be off road a lot or carrying very large loads.
