Would prefer getting a pair of 1" forks to maybe keep for a possible build . Plus I spoke to Chas Roberts cycles and estimated a drilling of the forks would cost about £25-£30.

No worries, I've already found a pair of suitable forks and currently in the process of acquiring them. Thanks nonetheless.
